Each page is re-rendered and re-encoded as a compressed image inside a new PDF. This usually shrinks scanned or image-heavy PDFs a lot. Text-heavy PDFs may become image-based, so text selection and search can be limited after compression.
Low — smallest file, good for portal upload limits.Medium — balanced size and quality (recommended).High — larger file, sharper pages for print or archival.
There is no hard server limit because processing is local. Very large PDFs (many pages or very high resolution) may take longer and need more browser memory. Try Medium or Low compression for big files.
