Setup Tax Rates in Your Magento Using Magento CMS, compound taxes for various products can be set. Basically, for compound taxes, the total cost of a product or service is taxed at one rate, and then the total of that amount, including the first tax amount, is taxed a second time. How to Setup Tax Rates in Your Magento Store

  • Log in to the Magento store backend after entering the correct credentials
  • From the Admin Panel, select Sales > Tax > Manage Tax Zones & Rates
  • Click the Add New Tax Rate button
  • Fill up the following fields in the Tax Rate Information area:
  1. Tax Identifier
  2. Country and State
  3. Zip/Post is Range
  4. Range From/ Range To
  5. Rate Percent
  6. Tax Titles

  • Fill up the following fields in the Tax Rule Information area:
  1. Name
  2. Customer Tax Class
  3. Product Tax Class
  4. Tax Rate
  5. Priority
  6. Sort Order
  • Click the Save Rule button to save the changes made
