How to Create Grouped Products in Magento?
Following is the recommended way to create a grouped product in Magento stores:
- Create a Grouped Product Record
- Add Associated Products to the newly created record
- Configure the thumbnail images of the added products comprising the group
Steps to create the grouped Product Record
- Log in to your Magento store backend after entering the proper credentials
- From the Magento Admin Panel, go to Catalog > Manage Products
- Then, click the Add product button
- Under the Create Product Settings section, fill up the following:
- Attribute Set: Select the attribute set you wish to use as a template
- Product Type: Set product type as Grouped Product from the drop-down list
- Use complex Product Types: Mark the checkbox alongside this field
- Next, click the Continue button
- Fill up the fields under the Product Information section
- Click the Save and Continue button to save the changes made
Steps to Add the Associated Products
- Select the last option, Associated Products in the Product Information panel on the left
- Carry out the following steps for each item in the list:
- Select the checkbox of the item you wish to include
- In the Default Quantity field, set the initial quantity of this item you wish to include
- Enter a number to determine the order of this item in the Position column
- Click the Save button on completion and save the changes made
Steps to Configure the Product Thumbnail Images
- From the Admin Panel, navigate to System > Configuration
- In the Configuration page, select Checkout under Sales
- In the Shopping Cart section, set Grouped Product Image to one of the following:
- Product Thumbnail Itself
- Parent product Thumbnail
- Similarly, set it for Configurable Product Image as well
- Click the Save Config button to save the changes made
